[ 03 — TECHNOLOGY ]

How a Trad robot thinks.

Three layers: a sensor stack that builds an honest picture of your home, a compute layer that decides what to do without phoning home, and a mechanical platform we expect you to take apart in ten years and put back together.

Section 01: THE SENSING STACK

What it knows about your house, and how.

Every Trad unit ships with the same sensor suite. Different chores need different reasoning, but they all start from the same map.

COMPUTE / ON-DEVICELIFEPO₄ · 3.2 AHLIDAR TURRETSTEREO PAIRCLIFF ARRAYCOMPUTEBATTERY
  • LIDAR + STEREO

A 360° turret plus dual stereoscopic cameras. The combination means the unit can see in the dark and through reflective surfaces — neither sensor would suffice alone.

  • ON-DEVICE CLASSIFIER

A small, fixed model identifies eight surface types and the most common household obstacles. It runs in under 12ms per frame on the unit's own SoC.

  • CLIFF ARRAY

Six IR sensors across the underside. Stairs, drop-offs, and a cat sleeping on the rug are all hard stops.

Section 02: ON-DEVICE INTELLIGENCE

Your floor plan stays on your floor.

The map of your home is not a product. It does not get uploaded to our servers. There are no servers.

RUNS LOCALLY

  • · Mapping, localization, path planning
  • · Obstacle classification
  • · Schedule logic and zone preferences
  • · Optional voice wake word
  • · Local web UI for configuration

TOUCHES THE INTERNET

  • · Software updates (signed, optional)
  • · Service manual lookups
  • · Replacement-part ordering
  • · Nothing else.
Section 03: MECHANICAL PHILOSOPHY

If we expect it to last ten years, we have to design like it.

A short manifesto, in three parts.

Modular by default.

The brush, mop pad, battery, wheels, and dust bin are each removable in under sixty seconds with a single hex key. No proprietary fasteners. No glued seams.

Documented by obligation.

Every shipping unit has a printed service manual in the box. The full repair documentation lives on the support site as plain PDF — no login, no watermark, no expiry.

Stocked for the long haul.

We commit to ten years of replacement parts from the day a unit ships. When a part is discontinued, we publish the CAD so you can have it printed.

Section 04: SAFETY & CERTIFICATIONS

The boring, important paperwork.

Status as of last review. {{ TODO: confirm with compliance lead }}
